At one point of time, the first season (and Championship Road movie. i have about 40 more episodes to watch, haha. hajime no ippo has genuinely funny moments litterered throughout. You might be able to find it on Youtube, but chances are what ever site you watch it on, you will need ad blocker. i have never laughed this hard, this consistently, from watching an anime, ever. There are even entire episodes dedicated to them. And not just Ippo, season 2 goes more in-depth with the other characters. Unlike most sequels, season 2 of this anime manages to maintain character development.
Japan’s best fighters are now in the spotlight and they’ll have to grind extra hard if they want to reach the highest ranks, their opponents being the rest of the world. While this was happening, his adversary, Ichirou Miyata, returns to Japan and is now aiming for the much-coveted Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation.
In my opinion it's a 9/10, because I just don't feel like this is a "masterpiece".Ippo Makunouchi, now a champion of the Japanese Featherweight Division, has fought hard to retain his title. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting. Really, there is nothing bad about this, except one thing: I wish they would have told us something about Takamura and his relationship towards Miyata-kun, since he left really early in the anime and we couldn't see how they felt towards each other, although this isn't really necessary I guess. Overall, I think this was a perfect OVA and I can recommend this to every Hajime no Ippo fan out there. Watch Anime for free in HD quality with English subbed or dubbed. The humour of this "episode" is as funny as always and the animation and soundtracks just stayed the same, also the enjoyment level was really high since this is Takamura at his best, who is probably the funniest character throughout the series. Even the fight at the end of the episode told us a lot about Takamura's personality and (especially) his strenght. Hajime no Ippo is an exemplary and wholesome example of Shonen anime.Instead of flashy powers, it exhibits pure human strength showcased with the right amount of dramatic exaggeration.The anime revolves around the strenuous sport, Boxing, and has an enthralling story that pulls you in, even if you have no interest in sports.
